UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor will welcome No. 5 Marian to Turner Stadium for a 1:00 pm start on Saturday.
SCOUTING TAYLOR: Despite facing the current No. 3, 5 and 15-ranked scoring defenses in the NAIA and two NCAA Division I foes so far this season, Taylor still ranks No. 7 in the NAIA with 229.0 rushing yards per contest and has cracked the top-50 with 347.9 total yards per game. The Trojans have rushed for at least 150 yards in each of their eight games.
SCOUTING MARIAN: The Knights tout a stingy defense which has been especially dominant on the road this season. While ranking second in the NAIA this year with just 11.3 points allowed per game, Marian has been even better in hostile environments, allowing just 4.3 points per game in its three road games.
LAST MEETING: A fifth-ranked Marian squad found the end zone on its first six drives of the game and rolled to a 67-7 home win over Taylor last fall. TU's lone offensive highlight came via an 80-yard touchdown reception from Dakohta Sonnichsen. Taylor did post nearly 300 total yards of offense in the game but limited its own scoring opportunities with four turnovers.
SERIES HISTORY: Taylor is 1-15 all-time against Marian on the gridiron. TU is 0-2 against MU under third-year head coach Aaron Mingo.
LAST TIME OUT: Taylor posted the first 40 points of its contest with Madonna and cruised to a 54-14 Homecoming victory. TU averaged 8.0 yards per carry against the Crusaders and ended the game with 391 rushing yards and 521 total yards of offense. Individual highlights came via a rushing score from Clay Adams and a pair of long scoring runs from Kyle Turanchick. Lucas Shilts also excelled with field goals from 44 and 35-yards out, with Aven Jones posting a team-leading 13 tackles.
LOOKING AHEAD: TU will have two more games this season, playing at Lawrence Tech on November 4, before hosting Saint Francis (IN) for Senior Day at 1:00 pm on November 11.
