Webb Scores Career-High in Road Loss Against No. 7 Grace
WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Taylor struggled against No. 7 Grace (22-3, 12-3 CL) on Saturday afternoon, falling 75-56 in the Crossroads League matchup.
Anton Webb scored a career-best 16 points, eclipsing his previous best of 15 that he scored twice earlier this season, and grabbed six rebounds down low.
While the final score swung the oppositions way, Taylor's bench outscored Grace's 32-19 and shot 13-21 from the field.
After trailing 18-10 the bench came in and helped TU take its first lead of the game after Webb threw down a dunk off a nice pass from Jackson Ullom.
Webb, Ullom, and Grant Niehaus combined for 18 points in the first half, with Webb leading the trio with 10 points on five shots.
Grace took control of the game late in the first half on a 12-0 run that increased the lead to 15 before Taylor scored the final four points to cut the lead to 11.
The Lancers were efficient after the break to extend the lead, while Jason Hubbard finally started to get going, scoring six straight points for the Trojans.
TU struggled defensively as Grace extended the lead to 28 just past the midway point of the second half.
The Trojans were able to cut the lead to 19 for the final off a three-point basket by Jakeb Kinsey with three seconds left.
Taylor (13-12, 7-8 CL) stays on the road to face cross-county rival No. 6 Indiana Wesleyan (18-7, 12-3 CL) in Crossroads League action on Wednesday, February 8, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
