Efficient Team Effort Leads to Blowout Victory in Arizona
GLENDALE, Ariz. – An all-around efficient team effort saw Taylor (2-0) run away with an 89-58 win over Justice College (0-3) as 12 players scored a bucket for the Trojans on Saturday night.
A quick 10-2 lead continued to grow throughout as the Trojan offense exploded for 51 points in the first half, led by ten from Anton Webb.
The team made seven triples from five players in the opening stanza, along with eight from inside the arc and 12 of 13 from the charity stripe in an efficient offensive display. Six players scored six or more in the first half, and the team shot 50 percent from the field.
Pete Combs was efficient off the bench, scoring six points on a pair of shots and a pair of attempts from the free-throw line in less than two minutes near the end of the half.
Combs continued his efficient performance throughout the entire contest, going a perfect 5-5 from the field and a solid 3-4 on free throws. The sophomore big man ended the night with 13 points.
The Trojans extended their lead throughout the second half and peaked at 34 when TU led 81-47 with five minutes to play. The Trojans reached 80 with eight minutes remaining before taking the foot off the gas.
Webb finished the contest with a team-leading 14 points and six rebounds, along with two assists, one steal, and two blocks in a stat-sheet-stuffing display. Kaden Fuhrmann added 11 points and six rebounds, with Jackson Ullom and Kobe Funderburk joining them in double digits at ten apiece.
The Trojans travel back to Upland, Indiana, for their home opener on Wednesday, October 30th, against Adrian (0-0), with tip-off set for 7:00 pm inside Odle Arena.
