UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor men's lacrosse team had another NAIA Top-10 team on the ropes at Wheeler Field but could not pull out the upset victory. This time, TU saw No. 7 Concordia battle back from a 9-5 halftime deficit to escape with a 13-11 victory over the Trojans.
The two sides played to a 3-3 draw after the first 15 minutes of action, before goals from Will Vanderkodde and Jack Kaiser opened a 5-3 lead that the Trojans would maintain through the rest of the half.
The TU advantage swelled to 8-4 with a goal from Ben Mueller, followed by back-to-back Jackson Dale scores. A strike from Will Saxby in the final minute sent Taylor to the break with a 9-5 cushion.
Concordia (6-4, 3-1 WHAC) controlled the second half however, scoring all three goals in the third to slowly chip away at the TU lead and continued its stifling defense in the fourth to pull out the 13-11 win.
Saxby and Dale paced the Trojans, combining for five goals and five assists, while Vanderkodde also performed well with a trio of scores and five ground balls. Ben Harrell was tough in the net once again, stopping 16 CU shots.
RV Taylor (5-6, 0-4 WHAC) will host Senior Day on Saturday, April 12, against Siena Heights (5-4, 0-3 WHAC) in a 1:00 pm start.
