HUNTINGTON, Ind. – The Taylor men's soccer team (4-8-1, 1-3-1 CL) was defeated 2-0 by Huntington (5-5-4, 2-2-1) Saturday night on the road.
A slow-moving, scoreless first half saw only five total shots tallied between the Trojans and Foresters. The lone shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes came courtesy of Webby Phiri in the 40th minute.
TU came out of the second half gates with an early opportunity for a go-ahead goal by Brian Matipa, but his shot was saved by Huntington's goalkeeper, Luis Costa.
The Forrester offense was able to control possession much of the time thereafter, and it broke the 0-0 tie in the 63rd minute on a rebound shot following a save Sam Spiegel made on his knees. Huntington added another goal when it broke free in the 80th minute, leaving a one-on-one opportunity in front of the Trojan net.
Taylor's defense limited HU to just 11 shots (four on goal), and Spiegel made two saves on the night.
The Trojans continue their road trip on Saturday, Oct. 11 to play No. 18 Indiana Wesleyan (10-1-4, 2-0-4 CL) in Marion, Ind. at 6:30 p.m.
