INDIANAPOLIS – Jake Thompson won the long jump at the Crossroads League Championships and added a second-place finish in the high jump to help Taylor position itself in second place in the team standings after the first day of action.
Thompson's long jump performance was the lone championship of the day for TU, as the senior hit the B-standard with a winning mark of 7.03 meters. Thompson added to his 10 points with seven more for the Trojans after tying for second in the high jump.
The solid performances in the field events carried into the pole vault, with Josh Forbes and Isaac Brown teaming for 11 more points. Forbes took runner-up status and collected another A-standard result, while Brown ended in sixth with a B-standard.
The Trojans grabbed three more B-standard finishes in the 5,000-meters, 4x800-meter relay and distance-medley relay.
The 4x800 team of Nathan Brainer, Keenan Clegg, James Bates and Nate Conkel highlighted that group with a third-place finish, while Bryce Noble, Bradley Braxton, Ben Eiffert and Joel Mumaw also secured a top-five relay finish in the DMR.
Luke Harber rounded out the strong showings for Taylor, surging back from a fall in the 5,000-meters to collect a point in eighth.
