BROOKINGS, S.D. – The 2024 NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships got underway on Thursday, with the Taylor men's team competing in two events.
Nathan Burns and Luke Harber started things off in the 5,000-meters, finishing 17th and 30th overall in the prelims. Burns posted his best time of the year by nine seconds, finishing at 14:42.02, but finished seventh in his fast-paced heat and did not advance to the finals. Harber crossed in 15:49.31 for 10th place in his heat.
The team of Ben Eiffert, Bradley Braxton, Nate Conkel and Joel Mumaw also competed well in the distance-medley relay. The group posted their best time of the season by nearly three seconds, teaming to finish in 10:10.59. The mark put the Trojans just two spots outside of advancing to the finals and in 10th-place overall.
The Trojans will continue action on Friday with two more athletes competing. Jake Thompson will start things off in the long jump at 5:15 pm (ET), with Ryan Hanak following in the 3,000-meters prelims at 5:15.
