YORKTOWN, Ind. – Playing in their second tournament of the young fall season, the 19th-ranked Trojans blasted the field once again, rolling to a second-straight team title to start the year.
Margarita Garrido took control early with back-to-back rounds of 70 in Friday's action and finished with a 54-hole total of 218 to top the field by five strokes and score her second individual title in as many outings this fall.
Garrido's medalist honor topped a wave of Trojans at the front of the individual leaderboard, with Eleanor Schuitema and Shayne Lim completing a sweep of the top-three spots for TU. Schuitema highlighted her tourney with a 72 in the second round, while Lim opened with scores of 75 and 72, before slipping to third in the final round and ending nine strokes back of Garrido.
Sam Lemieux also performed well, ending in a tie for eighth, while Abby Rich and Hope Haarer ended in the top-15 and Ellie Karst gave TU a total of seven finishers inside the top-20.
No. 19 Taylor (13-0) fired rounds of 297 and 297 on Friday, before a 312 on Saturday equaled a 906 total and a 49-stroke clearance over second-place in the eight team event at the Players Club at Woodland Trails.
