GOSHEN, Ind. – Megan Kammer netted two goals in the first 23 minutes and assisted on another score to lead the Taylor women's soccer team to a 4-1 road victory over Goshen on Tuesday.
As has been the case in all but one game this season, the Trojans (12-1, 5-1 CL) got on the scoreboard first and never looked back. The first two goals were both headers by Kammer off of corner kicks by Shannon Jacobsen, giving TU a 2-0 lead after only 23 minutes of action. Taylor owned a 7-1 shot advantage over the Maple Leafs (6-7-2, 2-3-1 CL) at this point in the match.
Goshen turned the momentum over the next stretch of play, which resulted in a GC goal in the 35th minute to cut the Trojan lead in half.
TU took a few more cracks at the goal in the final minutes of the first half, but the score remained 2-1 at halftime. Taylor doubled up Goshen in shots in the opening 45 minutes, registering 12 compared to six for the home team.
The Trojans followed their first-half blueprint in the second half, scoring two more goals in the first 14 minutes of the second stanza, and outshooting Goshen seven to one.
In the 47th minute, Nikki Zaino fed a pass to Bailey Zehr on the left side of the box, and Zehr lobbed the ball over the keeper's head into the net to extend TU's lead to 3-1.
Shelbi Lowe capped the scoring for Taylor with 31 minutes remaining on the clock, courtesy of an assist from Zaino.
Kammer set single-game career-highs with her two goals and four points, while Jacobsen and Zaino both set single-game career-highs with two assists each.
Up next for No. 18 TU (12-1, 5-1 CL) is a matchup at Turner Stadium on Saturday at 7:00 pm against (RV) Indiana Wesleyan (8-4-2, 3-2-1 CL) on Senior Day.
