UPLAND, Ind. – Taylor volleyball athletes, McKaylah Flagle, Jen Springer, Lindsay Springer, and Sarah Scott were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, which was announced on Tuesday. Honorees are nominated by each institution's sports information department for exceeding high standards both on the field and in the classroom, and they must have achieved sophomore academic status, a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and either play in at least 90 percent, or start in 66 percent, of her respective team's matches throughout the season.
The quartet of Trojans who received the honor all earned it for the first time in their collegiate careers.
Flagle secured an impressive 3.95 grade-point average in her human physiology and preventative medicine studies. Flagle was outstanding as the libero during her sophomore campaign, notching 519 digs and 4.12 digs per set. The New Palestine, Indiana native added 64 assists and 27 service aces to an incredible season, which earned her Second-Team All-Crossroads League honors.
Junior transfer, Jen Springer, notched a near-perfect 3.99 grade point average while studying exercise science. Springer led the Trojans with 36 service aces and tallied the third-most digs on the team with 259.
In her first season at Taylor, Lindsay Springer was a star on the court. The UNC Asheville transfer compiled a 3.70 grade-point average while majoring in psychology. Springer came in and thrived as the starting setter, collecting 1,294 assists, which was third in the Crossroads League and 11th in the NAIA. Springer was second on the Trojans with 275 digs and added 45 blocks and 42 kills during an outstanding debut year.
Finally, junior Scott excelled with a 3.52 grade-point average in her exercise science studies. Scott notched 323 kills for a mark of 2.71 kills per set while adding 60 digs and 36 blocks for a solid season on the outside.
The four 2023 Academic All-District selections for TU are the maximum allowed for any one team per CSC rules, and it marks the second straight season the volleyball program has hit that maximum number.
CSC's Academic All-American Team will be announced on Tuesday, January 19, with CSC members voting from the all-district pool of honorees.
