JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday afternoon, in which Audrey Brinkruff secured the women's cross country runner of the week award.
Brinkruff was one of three Trojans to cross the finish line in tandem in the Ray Bullock Invite, along with last week's runner of the week, Mollie Gamble, and sophomore Noel VanderWall. The trio finished with an identical time of 22:19.9, which is the new course record for the women's collegiate 6k race. Taylor eased to a first-place finish at the Invite with a minuscule score of 19, with No. 5 Saint Francis (Ill.) in second place with a team total of 55.
The Greenfield, Indiana native finished second at the IWU Twilight Invitational to begin the season before her first-place mark at the Ray Bullock Invite. The junior was an NAIA All-American last year after finishing in 13th place at the NAIA National Championships and has begun this season with even better results as Brinkruff looks to repeat the feat for a second consecutive year.
Brinkruff's honor marks the first of her career and the second for a TU athlete thus far into the 2023-2024 athletic year.
The No. 1 Taylor women's cross country team is back in action on Saturday, September 30th, at the Louisville Cross Country Classic, with the women's race beginning at 11:30 am.
