- All-State, All-Conference, and All- NAIA District No. 21 in cross country (1979)
- Three-time H.B.C.C. All-Conference performer and three-time All-District performer in track and field
- A conference champion in the mile (1977), the 800 meter and 500 meter (1979), and the 800 meter once again in 1981
- Won All-American honors in 1981, finishing fourth in the nation in the 800 meter run while setting a new Taylor record
