Bio

• Transferred to Taylor and lettered three years in both football and track and field
• 1986 NAIA District champion in both shot put and discus
• Holds the second best shot put throw in Taylor history with a distance of  52' 4"
• In football, selected to the NAIA All-District 1st Team in 1983, 1984, and 1985
• An NAIA Honorable-Mention All-American in 1984 and 2nd Team NAIA Scholar-Athlete
• In 1985, Russell was the first Taylor University athlete ever to be selected both 1st Team  NAIA All-American and 1st Team NAIA Scholar-Athlete
• Went on to sign professional football contracts in 1986 and 1987
