TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. – Taylor homered three times among 10 hits, while Andrew Feldman and Colin Eggleson combined to allow just one earned run over nine innings in a 12-5 win for the Trojans in Friday's series opener.
TU committed three early errors and allowed four unearned runs before the end of the third inning, but Nick Hollowell, Jake West and Brian Moore all homered to help push TU to a 7-5 lead.
Taylor extended the gap with a trio of unearned runs in the sixth. Lincoln Reed highlighted the rally with a two-run single and Tanner Watson capped the scoring with a two-run double in the seventh to blow the game open at 12-5.
Feldman capped his longest collegiate outing in fashion, retiring the final seven batters he faced. The freshman pitched around three errors and held the Toccoa Falls lineup to one earned run on five hits over five innings to improve to 3-1 on the hill.
Eggleson picked up his first save with Taylor by closing the game with four scoreless frames. The junior southpaw fanned two and scattered three hits over the final 12 outs.
Nathan Targgart collected three hits to lead the lineup and was one of five Trojans to drive in two runs. Watson, Moore, Hollowell and Reed joined Targgart with two RBI, while Moore, Hollowell and West all homered.
Taylor (19-9) and Toccoa Falls (5-13) will conclude the three-game set on Saturday, with a twin bill starting at noon.
