UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor will open its 76th season, when it hosts Saint Ambrose in a 6:00 pm start inside Turner Stadium, on Saturday, August 26.

SCOUTING TAYLOR: The Trojans went 5-1 in 2022 when rushing for at least 160 yards. In those five wins, TU averaged 243.8 yards on the ground compared to 122.5 in its defeats. Taylor returns its top seven ball carriers from one year ago, paced by Brendan Lamb and Dylan Scally, who teamed for 1,126 yards and nine touchdowns on the ground last season.

SCOUTING SAINT AMBROSE: The Fighting Bees went 2-8 in 2022 and were picked to finish fifth in the MSFA Midwest League in the preseason poll. SAU does return its top-two offensive playmakers however, with Kaden King and Yemi Ward figuring to lead the way again in 2023. King has averaged 4.7 yards per carry over his career, while Ward boasts 23 career touchdown receptions.

LAST MEETING: TU opened its 2014 home schedule with a 23-13 upset of No. 17 Saint Ambrose in the last meeting between the two programs on the gridiron. The two sides combined for just 48 rushing yards in the affair, while SAU lost five turnovers to fuel Taylor's upset bid.

SERIES HISTORY: Taylor is 4-6 all-time against Saint Ambrose on the gridiron. TU is 0-0 against SAU under third-year head coach Aaron Mingo.

2022 SEASON RECAP: Taylor closed the 2022 season at 5-6 overall, 3-4 in MSFA Mideast League play and 4-2 inside Turner Stadium. The five totals wins and three MSFA triumphs were TU's most since 2015 and its four home victories were the program's best since 2017. The Trojans found success with their ground attack, ranking 20th in the NAIA with 177.6 rushing yards per contest.

TAYLOR FOOTBALL APPROACHING 300TH WIN: The Taylor football program begins its 76th season on Saturday and enters the new campaign just one win shy of its 300th all-time victory.
