Shilts Earns Second MSFA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week Nod
UPLAND, Ind. – The Mid-States Football Association announced its Mideast League Players of the Week on Monday, with TU's Lucas Shilts being named the MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Shilts helped pad the Trojan lead throughout its 54-14 Homecoming win over Madonna, pushing the advantage from 21-0 out to 27-0 with field goals of 44 and 35 yards, and added six extra-points to end the contest with 12 points.
The two made field goals boosted Shilts' season total to six, and moved the sophomore into 24th in the NAIA and first in the MSFA Mideast with that total.
The MSFA Mideast League Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honor is the second for Shilts in his career and gives Taylor a total of eight Athlete-of-the-Week awards from the MSFA or Crossroads League this fall.
Shilts and the Trojans (2-6, 1-3 MSFA) will continue their campaign with a home date against No. 5 Marian (7-0, 4-0 MSFA) on Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 pm.
