Chesser Named NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY – Fresh off his record-setting performance in Taylor's 58-36 Homecoming win over Saint Francis on October 5, TU's Jameson Chesser was named the NAIA National Offensive Player of the Week.
Chesser ended seven of his 26 carries in the end zone, breaking Taylor's single-game record with the seven rushing touchdowns. The junior averaged 5.5 yards per carry on his way to a final output of 143 rushing yards and ripped off one run of 53 yards along the way.
Chesser helped keep the Trojans in control throughout the contest, scoring twice in the first quarter, three times in the third and two more times in the fourth as TU put the game out of reach.
With that production, Chesser enters Taylor's bye week ranked No. 2 in the NAIA with 712 rushing yards, No. 2 with 14 rushing scores and No. 5 with 118.7 rushing yards per contest.
The NAIA national honor is the first for Chesser, joining him with Aven Jones as the second Trojan to garner a national award this season on the gridiron and the fourth TU student-athlete to be named a National Athlete of the Week during the 2024-2025 season.
Chesser and the Trojans (5-1, 1-0 MSFA) will return to action on October 19 for a game at No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan (5-1, 1-0 MSFA) at 4:00 pm.
