Trojans Open Season with Second-Place Showing
YORKTOWN, Ind. – Noah Ross, Adam Kasitz and Javan Johnson all finished inside the top-six players at the Players Club Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, helping Taylor finish in second place among 14 teams.
The Trojans posted scores of 291 and 294 on Monday, before closing the event and jumping one spot in the standings with a 286 on Tuesday. That total put Taylor just seven strokes off the pace of No. 19 Lindsey Wilson for the event title and nine shots up on RV Lawrence Tech for the runner-up slot.
The trio of Ross, Kasitz and Johnson fueled the strong play for Taylor, as Ross closed with back-to-back rounds of 68 to end at 210 and just three shots back in second place out of 79 individuals. The 210 three-round total for Ross tied the third-best 54-hole scoring total in program history.
Kasitz and Johnson followed just behind in fourth and sixth. Kasitz shot 70, 73, 70 for a 213 and the seventh-best 54-hole tally in TU history, while Johnson opened with a 69 and closed at 218 in a tie for sixth.
Erik Fahlen provided Taylor's other sub-70 score, shooting a 68 in round two and ending in 30th position with a final of 226.
Taylor is scheduled to return to action on September 23 and 24 in South Bend, Indiana for the Battle at Blackthorn.
