FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Taylor men's lacrosse team suffered a second-straight loss for the first time this season, falling by a 23-8 margin at No. 4 Indiana Tech on Wednesday afternoon.
A sloppy start saw the Trojans commit 13 first-period turnovers and the Warriors (8-2, 1-1 WHAC) took advantage by building a 15-5 advantage on shots and a 4-1 lead on the scoreboard through the day's first 15 minutes of action.
The deficit quickly grew to 9-1 as Indiana Tech unleashed a flurry of five goals on five shots in the opening minutes of the second, but a trio of unassisted Henry Cooper goals brought Taylor back into the game and an AJ Harris score drew TU within 10-5.
Another costly turnover by the Trojans in their own box led directly to an uncontested goal from the hosts right before the break and an 8-1 stretch from Tech to open the second half put the game out of reach.
Taylor ended the day with 36 turnovers and was outshot by a 60-32 margin on the afternoon as it struggled against the pressure of the Warriors.
Cooper led the offense with four goals, with Will Saxby dishing out three assists.
Lucas Pacer posted a game-high 11 ground balls, with David Celesti and Ethan Andrews combining to force seven ITT turnovers.
Taylor (5-4, 0-2 WHAC) will look to rebound when it plays at No. 8 Aquinas (6-1, 1-0 WHAC) on Saturday at 3:00 pm.
