SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Taylor men's soccer team (2-5-0) fell 3-0 at Lawrence Tech (5-1-0) Wednesday evening.
LTU spoiled an overall solid game by the Trojans' defense, as the Blue Devils had –and executed– two separate breakaway chances in the first half that put them up 2-0.
Taylor was able to drive the ball deep into Lawrence Tech's end multiple times, resulting in three corner kicks prior to halftime. TU could not score on its chances, however, as LTU took its two-goal lead into the break.
The Trojans continued to play aggressively throughout the match, often fueled by defensive takeaways. TU totaled five corner kicks and took 10 shots (six on goal) on the night, all of which bested the Blue Devils in those categories.
Lawrence Tech put a bow on the match in the 79th minute, however, when it generated a takeaway of its own and subsequently scored to gain a 3-0 advantage.
Matt Yoder and Sean Fields led TU in shots attempted with three and two, respectively, as they each landed one on frame.
Taylor looks to bounce back at home on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when it plays Lourdes (0-2-3) in the final non-league game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Turner Stadium.
