FORT WAYNE, Ind. –Taylor opened Crossroads League with a come-from-behind draw against Saint Francis (6-3-1, 0-0-1 CL) on the road on Wednesday night.
The Cougars controlled the early stages of the game and were rewarded in the 14th minute with a goal on a wonder strike into the upper ninety of the goal to take the lead.
Taylor grew into the game as the half wore on but was unable to get the ball into the back of the net and went into the break trailing 1-0.
Saint Francis came out firing, but Taylor's defense denied them the crucial second goal, and the Trojans took full advantage halfway through the second stanza.
A takeaway near midfield by Levi Yoder preceded a pass to his brother, Matt Yoder. Matt fired a shot, which was parried away by the keeper, and headed a pass off the rebound to the middle of the box, which found the outstretched foot of Carlos Sanabria and was guided into the net to level the action at 1-1.
Both squads searched for the winner throughout the rest of the match, including two shots on goal from each side in the final three minutes, all of which were saved to keep the scoreline knotted at one apiece.
Taylor (4-2-2, 0-0-1 CL) continues Crossroads League action on Saturday, September 28, back inside Turner Stadium with a matchup against RV Grace (1-5-2, 0-1-0 CL) set to kick-off at 1:00 pm.
