Forbes, Hanak Snatch Outdoor’s First Two CL Weekly Honors
JACKSON, Mich. – Two members of the Taylor men's track and field team provisionally qualified for the NAIA Outdoor National Championships with their performances at the IWU Polar Bear Invitational, and both were named Crossroads League Athletes of the Week for March 17-23, announced Monday.
Ryan Hanak kicked off his 2025 outdoor campaign with a runner-up finish out of 75 runners in the 5,000 meters, notching the junior his first career CL Track weekly honor.
The Hebron, Kentucky, native, met the NAIA B standard with his race of 14:57.28. Hanak was the fastest of any NAIA runner in the field, beating the third-place finisher by nearly 10 seconds.
Josh Forbes, meanwhile, received his first weekly outdoor CL Field accolade, though he was named the Crossroads League Field Athlete of the week in January of the 2024-2025 indoor season.
The All-American pole vaulter cleared 4.80 meters on his initial attempt at that height to hit the B standard and win the event that featured 23 athletes.
Hanak, Forbes and the Trojan men look to continue their strong start to the season as the team sends athletes to the WashU Distance Carnival in Saint Louis, Missouri, on March 27-28, and to the Emory Thrills in the Hills in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 28-29.
