Trojans Break Century Mark with 116-79 Victory
The Taylor University women's basketball team (3-0) traveled to Terre Haute to face Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and came home with a 116-79 victory.
The Trojans were very successful in breaking the Pomeroy's full-court press and at the same time curtailing SMWC's outside shooting. TU held their opponent to just 16.7% from long range.
TU broke out to a 58-31 lead at halftime and never looked back.
Senior Erin Guarneri led the Trojans with 23 points, while Tess Rudolph added 20. Four players were in doubles figures and every player scored.
Taylor was impressive on the glass, pulling down 64 boards with 28 offensive rebounds to just 37 for SMWC. Sarah Waid topped TU with eight boards.
Head coach Tena Krause's team was equally impressive from the free throw line where they drilled 20 of 22 opportunities.
Krause was pleased with her team's performance, "This was a great team effort. We had a tremendous overall performance with everyone contributing."
The team will play in the Sterling College Classic next Friday and Saturday.
