Trojans Roll Past Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods

UPLAND, Ind. - The Taylor women's basketball team rolled to a 110-44 victory over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in the first game of the Taylor Christmas Classic.
Taylor (5-9) scored the first eight points of the game, intcluding 3-pointers from Emma Brattain and Kelci Freds, and eventually built a 29-4 lead as the Trojans overwhelmed the Pomeroys from the opening tip en route to the victory.
Brattain finished with her first career double-double, notching career-highs in points (18) and assists (10) while added five rebounds and committing just one turnover. Savannah Bley joined Brattain in the double-double department as the freshman scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down a career-best 12 rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.
All 12 Trojans that logged minutes in the game also scored while six Trojans finished in double figures. Along with Brattain and Bley Taylor also got 14 points from Kelsey Bryant, a career-high 13 from Jackie Osenbaugh, a career-best 12 from Sara Waid, and ten from Erinn Behn.
Taylor shot 48 percent (49-102) from the floor, including 8-for-26 (30.8 percent) from beyond the arc while the Trojans dished out 34 assists on 49 made field goals. The Trojans also dominated the glass, outrebounding Saint Mary-of-the-Woods 71-36 and scoring 33 second-chance points on 28 offensive rebounds.
Saint Mary-of-the-Woods (6-6) shot 26.9 percent (18-67) from the floor and connected on just 4-of-30 (13.3 percent) from 3-point range.
Taylor is back in action tomorrow afternoon in the final game of the Taylor Christmas Classic as the Trojans host 18th-ranked Aquinas at 2:00 pm.
