Abby Buchs Leads TU to Blowout Victory

UPLAND, Ind. – Junior Abby Buchs had a career-night on Saturday, pacing the Trojans with a career-high 24 points. A lopsided fourth quarter bolstered Taylor (2-0) to a convincing 73-54 win to end the Four-State Tip-Off Classic.
The opening quarter saw even play between the two teams with Taylor only grabbing a three-point advantage. Buchs and the TU squad got it going in the second quarter. The Trojans began the period with a 13-4 run, which was sparked by six-straight points from Buchs.
Taylor has found plenty of success in the second quarter this season, outscoring its opponents by 28 in its first two games.
With Madonna (0-2) threatening a comeback in third, sophomore Lauren James knocked down a pair of threes to keep Taylor out in front. Maintaining a seven-point lead heading into the fourth, Buchs delivered once again to put the game away. The guard rattled off six-consecutive points for TU to begin the final quarter.
The Purple and Gold were great from the charity stripe on Saturday, finishing with 17 free throws, while converting on 85.0 percent of their attempts. The squad also dominated the glass, outpacing the Crusaders by 11 boards.
Buchs highlighted the night for the Trojans, going perfect from the field, making a career-high nine-of-nine shots from the floor. The Angola, Indiana-native also matched her career-high with nine rebounds on the night.
Kendall Bradbury put together a strong performance as well, logging a double-double by the end of the third quarter. The senior finished with a team-high 15 rebounds, in addition to her 20 points.
Orchestrating the offense, senior Lacey Garrett dished out six assists for her second-consecutive contest.
Taylor will look to continue rolling against Northwestern Ohio (0-1) at 5:00 pm on Tuesday in Odle Arena.
