Taylor Tackles Spring Arbor, Extends Win Streak to 13
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The TU women's basketball squad picked up its 13th-consecutive win on Saturday, defeating Spring Arbor by a score of 77-50.
A dominant second quarter gave the Trojans (21-4, 12-2 CL) total control for the comfortable road win. TU outscored the Cougars (7-19, 3-11 CL) 31-10 in the period, draining six treys as a team. Taylor was nearly perfect from the planks, knocking down 11-of-13 attempts, converting at an 84.6 percent clip.
Kendall Bradbury led the charge in the second stanza, recording 17 points through the 10 minutes of action. The senior nailed four triples, as she caught fire from beyond the arc. Bradbury finished the day with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists and two steals, grabbing her 17th 20-point effort on the season.
The Taylor defense was suffocating on Saturday, holding the Cougars to just 10 points in the second and third quarters. The team snagged 13 steals and forced 17 turnovers in the smooth victory. TU took advantage of Spring Arbor's mistakes, scoring 23 points off of Cougar turnovers.
Becca Buchs and Aubrey Wright were the strength of the defense nabbing three steals apiece. Buchs logged a career-high in swipes on Saturday, adding 16 points with four threes.
Pouring in 12 points on six-of-nine shooting, Abby Buchs put together a solid performance for her ninth-straight double-digit contest.
No. 9 TU will return to Odle Arena for its "Pink Out" Night on Wednesday, taking on No. 19 Indiana Wesleyan (18-8, 11-3 CL) at 7:00 pm.
