AVON, Ohio – Abby Buchs and Becca Buchs were each named 2019-2020 Preseason All-Crossroads League standouts. Taylor was voted to finish third in the CL, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Becca Buchs earned a Preseason First-Team All-Crossroads League nod, following a breakout junior campaign with a NAIA All-American Honorable Mention. The sharp-shooting guard sank a program-record 110 treys on her way to a First-Team All-Crossroads League selection. The volume of threes was matched with a 46.2 percent from downtown, while pouring in 16.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Abby Buchs was selected as a Preseason Third-Team All-Crossroads League selection on Wednesday. Buchs was an All-Crossroads League Honorable Mention as a junior, averaging 12.1 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. The Angola, Indiana native completed the 2018-2019 season with 60 deep balls and 90 free throws, setting career-highs in both categories.
Fresh off the most successful season in program history, the Trojans trailed just Marian and Saint Francis in the coaches' poll. The TU squad reached third in the preseason rankings after notching a program-record 22-straight wins and a 30-5 overall record during the 2018-2019 campaign.
The historic season culminated in a trip to the Round of Eight in the NAIA National Tournament. Taylor put on a show throughout the season, ranking in the top-10 in nine offensive categories. A high-powered offense propelled the Trojans to a Crossroads League regular season title and tournament championship.
The Purple and Gold will begin their 2019-2020 campaign at home against Concordia on October 25 at 6:00 pm.
