AVON, Ohio – Becca Buchs led the 15th-ranked Trojans to a pair of victories last week, earning her a Crossroads League Player-of-the-Week honor.
The senior from Angola, Indiana averaged 25.5 points and 10.5 rebounds through TU's 11-points victory over Grace and 34-point rout at Bethel. A career-high came on Saturday against BU, as Buchs notched 30 points, while matching a personal-best with eight treys on 16 attempts.
On Wednesday, Buchs became the 25th-player in program history to reach the 1,000 point milestone. An unlimited range from beyond the arc has propelled the guard to the impressive mark, sinking 13 triples on the week.
Through 11 games of the season, Buchs leads the NAIA with 50 makes from downtown, while averaging 4.5 threes per game. The sharpshooter also boasts the ninth-best three-point field goal percentage in the nation, converting at a 51.0 percent-clip from deep. Buchs spectacular efficiency has helped the Trojans to an NAIA-high 42.5 percentage from three-point range as a team.
Buchs picked up her first career CL Player-of-the-Week recognition on Monday, giving the TU women's basketball squad back-to-back weekly honors, after her twin sister, Abby Buchs, earned the distinction a week ago. Taylor has now tallied a total of 14 athlete-of-the-week honors this year.
No. 15 Taylor (11-0, 3-0 CL) will return to Odle Arena for its next contest, taking on RV Aquinas (5-6) on Tuesday, December 17 at 5:00 pm.
