Trojans Bested at Home by MVNU
UPLAND, Ind. – The Taylor women's basketball team (10-8, 3-5 CL) returned to the court Wednesday evening, when the Trojans lost at home to Mount Vernon Nazarene (9-9, 4-4 CL) by a final score of 73-55.
Turnovers and three-point baskets were decisive factors throughout the game. While Taylor shot just 3-20 from beyond the arc, Mount Vernon Nazarene hit on 10 of 21 attempts from three-point land. The Cougars also forced 16 TU turnovers, leading to 22 points off Taylor miscues while the Trojans scored just four points off MVNU turnovers.
The whistle also proved to be a sound of dismay for Taylor Wednesday evening, as the Trojans were called for a total of 17 personal fouls which paved the way for Mount Vernon Nazarene to shoot 13-16 from the charity stripe.
Taylor Westgate led the Trojans on offense with 14 points, while Ariel Dale and Gretchen Moll each posted 10 on the board. Meanwhile, Ava Henson knocked down two of her three three-point field goal attempts en route to a nine-point effort.
TU (10-8, 3-5 CL) has now dropped two conference games in a row but will look to return to the win column this Saturday, January 14, when the Trojans host Spring Arbor (13-5, 3-5 CL) at 1:00 pm.
