
French and Stimmel Named WGCA All-America Scholars

UPLAND, Ind. – A pair of Taylor women's golfers were named to the 2017-18 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America Scholar Team, announced by the organization this week.
Sophomore Annie Stimmel and freshman Taylor French became the first WGCA All-America Scholars in Taylor history.
A total of 1,011 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with the minimum qualification being a 3.5 cumulative GPA and participation in at least 12 rounds during the 2017-18 season.
Stimmel enjoyed a breakout sophomore campaign as the Hilliard, Ohio native posted an 82.1 scoring average and notched three top-10 finishes in ten tournaments for TU. Stimmel posted rounds of 75-78 to earn a tie for fourth place at the USF Fall Invitational added rounds of 78-83-77 to help the Trojans to a fifth place finish at the 2018 NAIA National Championship. An engineering major, Stimmel finished her sophomore year with a 3.62 cumulative GPA
French was a major contributor for the Trojans throughout the 2017-18 season. The freshman competed in all 11 events for TU during the 2017-18 season, posting an 80.5 scoring average in 24 rounds and earning All-Crossroads League honors. French posted rounds of 76-79 to tie for medalist honors at the Pilot Invitational and added rounds of 76-77-79 to earn All-Tournament Team honors with a tie for 13th place at the 2018 NAIA National Championship. A marketing major, French completed her freshman year with a 3.73 cumulative GPA.
Stimmel and French were the only Crossroads League players to earn WGCA All-America Scholar Team honors.
