
Schuitema Takes Medalist Honors as Trojans Claim Baker Invite Title
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 16 Taylor women's golf team secured its fourth title of the season by winning the Baker Invitational. The Trojans fired a 308 on Friday to widen its lead over Baker in the eventual eight-shot spread.
TU's two-day total of 620 was highlighted by the play of Eleanor Schuitema, who backed Monday's 76 with a 71 on Tuesday to cruise to a four-stroke victory with a final score of 147. The round of 71 matched a career-low for Schuitema, with the individual title being her first with the Trojans.
Shayne Lim logged the fourth top-five of her season by shooting a 77 on Tuesday to end in fifth at 156, while Margarita Garrido and Ellie Beavins each shot an 80 on Tuesday and finished in seventh and eighth at 158 and 159.
Taylor put all five individuals inside the top-11 on the leaderboard, as Hope Haarer rounded out TU's lineup by finishing 11th.
TU will return to action on March 21 and 22 for the Purgatory Intercollegiate.
