Trojans Celebrate Senior Night With 3-0 Win
UPLAND, Ind. – As fans gathered inside Turner Stadium to celebrate Taylor's seven seniors, the Trojan women's soccer team celebrated a 3-0 win against Goshen (5-8, 1-5). Senior, Erin Teevans, scored two goals, while junior, Sophie Snyder, knocked in a third.
The Trojans boasted another lopsided comparison in the shot column, taking 27 to Goshen's mere six. Even more, Taylor landed 10 shots on-goal, while the Maple Leafs only offered Taylor goalie, Hannah Brackenbury, one opportunity to secure a save.
Taylor's first goal arrived in the match's 25th minute, thanks to a beautiful dish from senior, Linli Tu, that was capitalized on by Teevans. The Barlett, Illinois, native received a dime up the middle of the field from Tu, before denting the net's left pocket via her right foot.
Teevans was not done for the half, however, knocking in her second goal of the match with just under 90 seconds to play before intermission. This time, Teevans' goal was unassisted while pouncing on a ball that was bounced around in the box by the Maple Leaf defense.
Thanks to Teevans and her seventh-career multi-goal match, the Trojans went into the half up 2-0. It would not be long before the Trojans tacked on another goal, though, as Sophie Snyder soon made it a 3-0 game.
Snyder benefited from an excellent ball from senior, Riley Massey, off of a foul kick. The Carmel, Indiana, native scored her second goal of the season, while Massey locked in her first assist on the year.
Taylor went on to win 3-0, beating the Maple Leafs for the 13th-consecutive time, nurturing a great night to celebrate Taylor's seven seniors: AC Hardy, Kate Kortenhoeven, Riley Massey, Alanna Raikes, Erin Teevans, Linli Tu, and Ali Vander Kolk.
Taylor will look to keep the celebration going as the Trojans take on one final non-league opponent in Trinity Christian (12-2) on Wednesday, October 20, inside Turner Stadium at 7:00 pm.
