Trojans Cruise to Victory
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Taylor (2-0-0) continued its bright start to the season with a 3-0 win over Concordia (0-1-0) Saturday afternoon.
TU picked up where it left off last week, dominating the game early and throughout as they posted an incredible 39 shots, with 13 of those on goal.
The Trojans scored first, after a brilliant run down the left wing by Lauren Collins set up Sophie Snyder for her first goal of the year in the 16th minute. Collins gathered possession on the left wing and raced past her defender into the box. After surveying the situation, Collins crossed the ball to Snyder, who easily slotted home to complete the magnificent move by TU.
Taylor continued to put the pressure on Concordia and was rewarded in the 33rd minute with another goal, scored by Audrey Grimm, after a great pass from Kiana Siefert. Siefert collected a pass with a fantastic dummy to leave her defender in the dust and calmly found Snyder in the box, who slotted the ball into the far bottom corner of the goal to double the lead.
The defense was terrific in the first half, not allowing a single shot, with Concordia barely getting any touches near the Trojan's box.
TU continued to control the game but did not find another goal until the 89th minute. Caroline Monberg took a pass from Libby Thomas, and after two dribbles produced a perfect through ball for Siefert. Siefert, looking to add to her assist, took the ball to the six-yard box and deftly shot the ball into the near corner for her second goal in as many games.
The defense continued to do an amazing job keeping the Cardinals at bay, allowing two shots the entire game, with Hannah Brackenbury saving the lone shot on goal for her second shutout of the young season.
The Trojans are back in action Wednesday, August 31, at 4:00 pm against IU-East (0-1-2) inside Turner Stadium for their home opener.
