MARION, Ind. – RV Taylor (9-1-1, 1-1-1) saw its ten-match unbeaten run end Saturday night, losing 2-0 against cross-county rival No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan (10-0-1, 2-0-1)
The Trojans fell behind early and even though they dominated the stat sheet in the second half, could not find the all-important goals they needed to get a more deserved result.
Indiana Wesleyan grabbed an early lead in the 11th minute and doubled its lead 11 minutes later for a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
While IWU scored both goals in the first half Hannah Brackenbury prevented further damage, securing all three of her saves in the match before halftime.
The Trojans fired back in the second half, creating multiple chances as the defense stymied the Wildcats after the break.
TU fired off five corner kicks and four shots in a five-minute span in the second stanza that forced a save and showed the intent the Trojans were bringing.
Taylor continued to control the match in the second half but was unable to put the ball in the back of the net as the final whistle blew and the score remained 2-0.
Four separate Trojans registered a shot on target, while Sarah Mullins led the team with three shots.
RV Taylor will look to bounce back after its lone defeat of the season against another ranked opponent, as it takes on No. 2 Spring Arbor (7-1-2, 2-1-0) next Saturday, October 8, at 7:00 pm back inside Turner Stadium.
