UPLAND, Ind. – RV Taylor (11-3-2, 3-3-2) fell 6-1 against No. 2 Marian (14-0-2, 7-0-1) on Wednesday night in Crossroads League Action.
Marian found the opening goal in the 12th minute and doubled its lead six minutes later for an early 2-0 advantage.
Taylor grabbed a goal back in the 33rd minute. Sophie Snyder collected a loose ball and took a dribble before ambitiously firing from outside the box. After a deflection, the ball nestled into the back of the net, cutting the Knight's lead in half on Snyder's fourth goal of the season.
MU quickly responded with another goal of its own four minutes later to regain its two-goal advantage going into halftime.
Taylor came out with some energy to start the second half and had two early opportunities. Emma Goebel forced the Marian keeper to make a save, while Lauren Collins headed just wide in the first two minutes of the half.
The Knights put the match away with three goals in five minutes to take a 6-1 lead in the 59th minute.
The Trojans continued to attack and came close after a corner kick from Claire Massey found the feet of Collins, who rattled the underside of the crossbar with a shot, and the rebound was headed just over the crossbar by Sydney Thompson.
RV Taylor finishes the regular season inside Turner Stadium Saturday, October 29, in a match against Saint Francis (4-9-4, 0-6-2) with kick-off set for 7:00 pm. TU will celebrate Senior Night during halftime, with five players being honored.
