
Mays’ Record Highlights Day Two at National Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Taylor women's indoor track and field team continued its strong showing at the 2025 NAIA National Championships, sending two more athletes into Saturday's finals with outstanding efforts from Abby Mays and Noel VanderWall.
Mays closed the afternoon's schedule for the Trojans with the fastest 1,000-meters time in program history, breaking her own record from two weeks prior with a time of 2:53.38 to finish in fifth in the prelims.
VanderWall also ran into Saturday's finals with a sixth-place showing in the prelims for the mile with a time of 5:04.32.
Mays and VanderWall were joined by Kiana Siefert on Friday's docket, as Siefert also performed well and exceeded her seeding with a 16th-place finish in the long jump. Siefert registered her second-best distance of the season with a mark of 5.54 meters.
Mays and VanderWall will compete in two events each on Saturday, with Jaynie Halterman, Sam Patterson, Nicole Domene and Emersyn Funk also in action.
VanderWall will lead things off at 12:25 pm (ET) in the mile, with Mays following in the 1,000-meters at 2:35 pm. Halterman and Patterson will then take the track for the 5,000-meters at 3:55 pm, before the distance-medley relay team of Domene, Funk, Mays and VanderWall race at 4:40 pm.
