Halterman and VanderWall Hit NAIA Standards to Open Outdoor Season
MARION, Ind. – Jaynie Halterman continued her incredible debut collegiate season athletically, beginning her outdoor track season by setting a new program record in the 5,000-meters with a time of 16:09.75.
The Trojans began the outdoor at the IWU Polar Bear Meet and a pair of Trojans hit NAIA Standards, as Halterman posted the fastest time in the NAIA by over a minute in the 5,000-meters for the NAIA A Standard. Noel VanderWall had a terrific race in the 5,000-meters as well, hitting the NAIA B Standard with a time of 17:20.19. Sam Patterson just missed the same standard finishing two seconds behind VanderWall to complete the top three for TU.
Audrey Brinkruff topped the field in the Steeplechase, with a time of 11:52.78 as Taylor had the victor in each race on Friday.
The final competitor for Taylor on Friday was Karley Kabel, who had a toss of 9.79 meters in the shot put.
The Trojans continue competition in the IWU Polar Bear Meet on Saturday, March 22, with the first event beginning at 11:00 am.
