TU Volleyball Falls to Pair of Top-10 Foes at Viterbo Tournament

LA CROSSE, Wisc. – Taylor closed its fourth tournament of the regular season with losses to the No. 5 and No. 7-ranked teams in the nation on Saturday afternoon, suffering a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Viterbo and a 3-1 defeat to No. 7 Northwestern.
The day started with TU falling 25-23, 25-15, 25-16 in a morning clash against the host Viterbo (13-2) team. The Trojans struggled to get their attack in rhythm against the fifth-ranked club and were paced by five kills from Isaacs, who did not commit an error in nine swings.
Kacy Bragg and Nicki Parrett continued to pile up the service aces, as both added two more strikes from the back line in the contest.
Taylor extended its match against Northwestern (11-0) to four sets, before suffering the 25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-19 loss. Julia Pomerenke turned in 10 kills in 20 swings to lead the offense, with Jessica Dodane tagging three aces. Parrett and Erin Peugh scooped up 12 digs each to help the defense.
Taylor (10-7, 1-0) will jump back into Crossroads League play against Bethel (5-9, 0-1 CL) on Wednesday. First serve is set for 5:00 pm inside Odle Arena.
