Adams Eclipses 1,000 Career Kills, TU Falls to RV IU Kokomo
UPLAND, Ind. – Amanda Adams compiled 20 kills on Friday night, pushing her career total past the 1,000-kill milestone. The TU squad (1-2) came up short in a 25-21, 23-25, 25-14, 26-24 defeat to RV IU Kokomo (1-0).
Adams reached the 1,000-kill mark on her first kill of the match, becoming the 22nd member of the Taylor 1,000-kill club. The senior was the first Trojan to hit the milestone since Becca Gerig in 2017.
The outside hitter posted her second-consecutive 20-kill outing, while leading Taylor in the second set win with six kills. Adams gave an all-around effort on the night, collecting nine digs and two aces.
A close-knit first set got away from the Trojans, as the Cougars went on a 7-3 rally to cap off the set. Grace Isaacs led the attack for TU with four kills and a .517 hitting percentage.
Taylor utilized a 9-2 run to create separation in the second set. A late surge from the visitors was snuffed out when Isaacs slammed a kill to give TU a 25-23 game two win.
The Purple and Gold continued to show resilience in the fourth set, overcoming a 24-21 deficit to push the game past 25 points. Unfortunately, IUK bounced back with two-straight points to close out the match.
