No. 1 Marian Halts TU Winning Streak
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Trojans (6-7, 5-6 CL) looked for their fifth-straight triumph on Wednesday but came up short on the road at No. 1 Marian (8-2, 8-2 CL) in a 25-12, 25-27, 25-18, 25-22 loss.
Kacy Bragg highlighted the night for the Purple and Gold, nearly logging a triple-double with 31 assists, 10 digs and eight kills. The sophomore setter was the most efficient hitter for TU, slamming the eight kills with a .667 hitting percentage through 12 attacks without an attack error.
Taylor got off to a slow start following a week long hiatus from its last match. Five attack errors plagued the team in the opening set, falling 25-12.
TU bounced back in a big way, taking the second set of the match, 27-25. The visiting Trojans showed resilience with an 11-2 run after falling behind 18-10 in the set. Taylor went on to fend off a pair of set-point opportunities for Marian, before finishing the game with three-straight points.
Three Trojans reached double figures in digs on Wednesday, including a team-high 15 from Erin Peugh. The libero posted 15 digs for the second time this season and nabbed at least 10 in 10 different contests. Nikki Parrett also impressed with her third outing with 10 digs.
Amanda Adams dominated the attack for Taylor, collecting 19 kills on 42 attempts. The senior outside hitter averaged 4.75 kills per set, exceeding her league-leading season average of 4.24 kills per set.
TU's leader in blocks on the season, Grace Isaacs, added a few more to her 2020 total with four blocks against Marian. The senior compiled at least two solo blocks for the fourth time this year.
Taylor will hit the road to take on Huntington (0-10, 0-9 CL) in its next contest on Friday at 7:00 pm.
