JACKSON, Mich. – Lindsay Springer was named the Crossroads League Volleyball Setter of the Week for Oct. 9 through 15, as announced by the league on Monday. The sophomore transfer collected her 1,500th career assist while helping lead the Trojans to their second consecutive victory with a four-set win Wednesday, Oct. 11, over Grace (15-8, 6-6 CL).
Springer, who has averaged nearly 11 assists per set this season with TU, tallied a match-high 46 assists versus the Lancers in Taylor's lone match of the week. With Grace down just a single point in the fourth set, 22-21, Springer's sets led to kills in the ensuing two rallies to swing momentum back to the Trojans and close out the match. The sophomore also added four digs, three blocks and a kill of her own in the win.
The Trojans' setter's performance led to the first CL Athlete of the Week award for TU volleyball (13-14, 3-9) in the 2023 season. Springer's 10.75 assist-per-set average ranks third in the Crossroads League.
Taylor continues its stretch of four-straight home matches on Wednesday, Oct. 18, when it hosts No. 25 Mount Vernon Nazarene (23-5, 9-3 CL) inside Odle Arena at 7 p.m.
