
Trojans Finish Third at Ray Bullock Invite
UPLAND, Ind. – The No. 2 Taylor women's cross country team battled a competitive field in the brutal heat Friday evening, turning in a third-place finish at the Ray Bullock Invite. The Trojans lost to No. 1-ranked St. Francis (Ill.) and No. 14 Cornerstone.
TU finished third-of-15 teams on their home course at the TUXC Farm and tallied a total of 70 points. No. 1 St. Francis (Ill.) cruised to victory with only 33 points. No. 14 Cornerstone took second just five points ahead of the Trojans (65 points). No. 10 Huntington garnered fourth place (136), followed RV Grace in fifth (153).
The Purple and Gold piled three runners in the top-10 and produced a team time of 96:14
Sophomore Mollie Gamble ran strong and finished first for the Trojans. The Sweetser, Indiana native cruised to eight-place overall, clocking a collegiate personal-best time of 18:57.2.
Abbey Brennan put together another impressive race for her standout senior campaign. The senior from Fort Wayne, Indiana broke into the 18:00s for the second time this season, crossing the line in 18:59.3 and claiming ninth place overall.
Ahna VanderWall finished seconds behind Brennan, logging a time of 19:05.9 and grabbing 10th place. Audrey Brinkruff finished fourth for the Purple and Gold. The freshman clocked a time of 19:26.1 and notched 19th place overall.
Brooke Studnicki and Giovanna Domene finished stride for stride, claiming 25th and 26th place respectively. Studnicki logged a time of 19:46.5 and Domene crossed in 19:46.8.
Madeline Purdom rounded out the Trojans' top-seven. Purdom cruised to 29th place with a time of 19:56.2.
The No. 2 Trojans (27-2) will return to the course for the Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning, October 2.
