JACKSON, Mich. – The Crossroads League announced its athletes of the week on Monday afternoon, in which Audrey Brinkruff secured the women's cross country runner of the week award for the second time this season.
Brinkruff led the Trojans in the Louisville Cross Country Classic, where she finished fourth out of 383 runners in the silver division race. The highly competitive race featured schools from NCAA Division I and II in combination with the eight ranked NAIA participants. Brinkruff was the second finisher from the NAIA with a terrific time of 17:58.0, which was her second-fastest mark in a 5k race in her career.
The Greenfield, Indiana native paced Taylor to a third-place finish, in which no NAIA School was within 200 points of them. The impressive 133-point total for TU saw them fall behind two NCAA Division I squads after dropping a tiebreaker with second place.
Brinkruff's honor marks the second of her career and the fifth for a TU athlete thus far into the 2023-2024 athletic year.
The No. 1 Taylor women's cross country team is back in action on Saturday, October 21, at the Blazing Tiger NAIA Classic, in Omaha, Nebraska, with the women's race beginning at 11:00 am.
