CL Athletes of the Week Feb. 19-25 | TU Honors Page
JACKSON, Mich. – Infielder Mason David was named the Crossroads League Baseball Player of the Week for his performances from Feb. 19 through 25. David's weekly honor is the first such accolade of his career.
After a relatively slow start to his season, David broke out with a two-hit day that included a three-run homer to break the game open on Feb. 21 versus Indiana South Bend. The junior had another run-producing at-bat in the game on a hard-hit line drive that was ruled an error, proving he had found his swing beyond the box score.
David followed his breakout performance with four hits – two for extra bases – in seven at-bats in Friday's doubleheader sweep against Madonna. He reached base five total times on the day, and he drove in four of TU's 20 runs in game two, including singling home the eventual game-winning run in the first inning.
The Bloomington, Ind., native added to his excellent at-bats throughout the week by stealing a base and going a perfect six-for-six on his chances in the field.
David and the Trojan bats look to keep their hot streak going when No. 9 Taylor (6-7) hosts IUPUC (4-10) on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.
