UPLAND, Ind. - Taylor will bring a close to its 2023 season on Saturday, November 11, when it welcomes Saint Francis (IN) to Turner Stadium for a 1:00 pm start.
SCOUTING TAYLOR: Despite a disappointing 2-8 overall record heading into its Senior Day clash with Saint Francis, TU has shown improvement on offense with 24.0 points, 331.7 total yards and 214.6 rushing yards per contest. That scoring average puts the Trojans on pace for their best clip since 2019.
SCOUTING SAINT FRANCIS: The Cougars have rebounded from an 0-2 start to climb over the .500 mark on the season. Grant Gremel leads a balanced offense for USF, passing for 165.3 yards per outing, while Cam Peterson and David Smith have combined for over 90.0 rushing yards per game this season.
LAST MEETING: A five turnover day spoiled Taylor's hopes of a three-game win streak last fall, as USF defended its home turf in a 44-6 outcome. TU completed just seven passes for 23 yards in the loss, while the hosts racked up 498 total yards of offense.
SERIES HISTORY: Taylor is 2-20 all-time against Saint Francis on the gridiron. TU is 0-2 against USF under third-year head coach Aaron Mingo.
LAST TIME OUT: Taylor used a 25-point outburst in the second quarter to open a 31-17 lead at Lawrence Tech but could not hold on in the 41-37 defeat. TU struggled offensively, amassing just 293 yards and could not slow the LTU passing attack, which piled up 297 yards through the air.
SENIOR DAY: Taylor will honor the 14 seniors within its program with a brief on-field ceremony beginning at 12:40 pm on Saturday. TU's 2023 seniors include Clay Adams, Drew Bagley, Cole Baker, Stephen Ellis, Braxton Green, Gage Holder, Seth Griswold, Brendan Lamb, Michael Medlock and Bryce Vasvari, as well as student assistants Trey Wood and Emmanuel Joseph and student managers Joe Taylor and Matthew Van Hook.
MSFA CHANGES FOR 2024: The MSFA Mideast League will have a new look in 2024, with Marian and Saint Francis moving over to the Midwest League and Defiance College joining the NAIA and becoming a MSFA Mideast League member. The changes will leave the MSFA Mideast League with Taylor, Concordia, Defiance, Indiana Wesleyan, Lawrence Tech, Madonna and Siena Heights. The Midwest League will feature Judson, Marian, Olivet Nazarene, Saint Xavier, Saint Francis (IL) and Saint Francis (IN).
