Jones Earns MSFA Weekly Honor
UPLAND, Ind. – The Mid-States Football Association announced its Mideast League Players of the Week on Monday, with TU's Aven Jones being named the MSFA Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Taylor's season-opening win at Siena Heights.
Jones foiled a key Siena Heights scoring threat in the fourth quarter of TU's 34-28 road win, making a tackle in the backfield on fourth-and-one to end the SHU drive in the red zone.
The key tackle was one of 10 made by Jones during the victory, marking the 14th time that the senior linebacker had recorded double-digit stops in a game for the Trojans.
The MSFA Player-of-the-Week honor is the second for Jones, and is the first weekly honor for Taylor Athletics for the young 2024-2025 year.
Jones and the Trojans (1-0, 1-0 MSFA) will return to action on Saturday, September 7, with an 8:00 pm (ET) start time at Olivet Nazarene (1-0, 0-0 MSFA).
