TU Repeats Sweep of MSFA Weekly Honors
UPLAND, Ind. – For the second-straight week, Taylor took all three Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Player-of-the-Week awards, this time with Kyle Turanchick, Aven Jones and Isaac Hoke being recognized on the heels of a 52-29 win over Judson.
Turanchick scored the first two touchdowns of the night for Taylor, giving the Trojans early leads of 7-0 and 17-7. The sophomore finished with 81 yards on just seven touches, averaging 11.6 yards a pop, highlighted by a 44-yard touchdown run.
Jones led the TU defensive effort by picking up 10 total stops. The linebacker tallied three solo hits and seven assisted tackles, resulting in a third-straight double-digit tackle output to open the season.
Hoke split time among three kickers for Taylor in the lopsided affair, leading the trio with five points without a miss. Hoke hit both of his point-after tries and was pure from 44 yards out for the lone field goal of the night.
The MSFA Player-of-the-Week award is the first for Turanchick and Hoke, with Jones taking the honor for the third time in his career and the second time this season.
With the three awards, Taylor Athletics now boasts nine weekly honors for the 2024-2025 year, with seven of those coming from the gridiron.
Taylor (3-0, 1-0 MSFA) will return to action on Saturday, September 21 at 4:30 pm with a non-league game at Kentucky Christian (1-2).
