UPLAND, Ind. - A stretch of three home games over the final four weeks of the regular season will begin on Saturday for Taylor, as the Trojans welcome Lawrence Tech to Turner Stadium for a 1:00 pm start.
SCOUTING TAYLOR: Despite being held to just seven points in their last outing, the Trojans are still on track to rewrite their offensive record book. TU has already set a new mark with 31 rushing touchdowns and is currently on pace for new records with 44.3 points, 481.9 total yards and 313.1 rushing yards per game, as well as with 43 total touchdowns and 310 points scored.
SCOUTING LAWRENCE TECH: The Blue Devils have struggled on the defensive side of the ball, allowing 42.4 points per game outside of their 77-18 win over Judson. The woes have been magnified on the road, where LTU has been outscored by a 123-21 margin in a pair of lopsided defeats.
LAST MEETING: Taylor saw a 31-17 lead slip away in an eventual, 41-37, loss at LTU last season. The Blue Devils threw for 297 yards, with Jaden Rembert and Tyler Garrett teaming for 139 receiving yards. Damon Hockett fueled the TU attack with 113 yards through the air and 66 yards on the ground.
SERIES HISTORY: Taylor is 2-2 all-time against Lawrence Tech on the gridiron, and 1-2 against the Blue Devils under the direction of fourth-year head coach Aaron Mingo.
LAST TIME OUT: Taylor took on No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan on October 19 with first place in the MSFA Mideast League standings up for grabs. The host Wildcats prevailed, 56-7, holding the quick-hitting Taylor offense below 34 points for first time this season. TU's 147 total yards of offense was its second-lowest output of the past four seasons.
LIGHTING UP THE SCOREBOARD: With 58, 52 and 67 points in successive wins against Olivet Nazarene, Judson and Kentucky Christian, Taylor made history by putting at least 50 points on the scoreboard in three-straight games for the first time in program history. TU has scored at least 34 points in all but one of its seven games this season and its current clip of 44.3 points per game would shatter the program record of 38.0 set in 2015.
RUNNING WILD: Through the first seven games of the season, Taylor has surpassed 300 yards rushing in all but two of those contests. TU's 313.1 rushing yards per game this season rank the Trojans No. 2 in the NAIA.
TROJANS IN THE NAIA RANKS: Taylor enters its eighth game at No. 2 in the NAIA with 31 rushing touchdowns and 313.3 rushing yards per game. There are also multiple Trojans ranking near the top of the NAIA, as Aven Jones leads the NAIA with 90 tackles and 12.9 hits per game, Jameson Chesser is third with 14 rushing touchdowns, fifth with 84 points and sixth with 115.6 rushing yards per game, Reid Messer is second with four interceptions, Carter Loveless is sixth with 40.8 yards per punt and Nathan Munson is eighth with seven receiving touchdowns.
