Mansfield Picks Up Weekly Honor from MSFA
UPLAND, Ind. – TU's Jeremiah Mansfield was recognized by the Mid-States Football Association on Monday, being named the MSFA Mideast League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Taylor's 63-12 win over Defiance.
Mansfield was a force throughout the game, posting 3.5 sacks among his six total tackles and adding a trio of additional quarterback pressures. Along with those numbers, Mansfield set up TU's first score of the day by recovering a fumble on the DC one-yard line on the Yellow Jackets' third snap of the afternoon.
The busy afternoon in the Defiance backfield moved Mansfield to 9.0 sacks on the season, good for the third-highest total in the NAIA and the top mark among all MSFA performers.
The MSFA weekly honor is the first for Mansfield during his time with the Trojans, while the award is the 21st weekly recognition for Taylor Athletics during the current fall season and the 12th of the season for Taylor on the gridiron.
Mansfield and the Trojans (7-2, 2-1 MSFA) will set their sights on a third-straight win when they play at Madonna (0-9, 0-3 MSFA) on Saturday, November 9 at 1:00 pm.
