TU’s Harrell Picks Up Weekly Honor from WHAC
UPLAND, Ind. – After highlighting Taylor's 10-1 win over Saint Ambrose on Saturday, March 1 with his work in the net, TU's Ben Harrell was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Harrell was a wall between the posts for TU in its wins over Columbia and Saint Ambrose, piling up 31 saves in the two victories and averaging just 6.0 goals allowed per game with a 72.1 save percentage.
After stopping 15 shots in TU's 14-11 win over Columbia on Thursday, the sophomore keeper held SAU without a goal until the fourth quarter of a 10-1 Trojan triumph. In that game, Harrell posted a season-high 16 saves and a 94.1 save percentage.
The weekly honor is the first for Harrell in his young career and the first for TU men's lacrosse this season. Harrell's honor brings Taylor's total number of weekly league honors for the 2024-2025 year to 42.
Harrell and the Trojans (3-2) will return to action on Thursday, with a home clash against Midland (0-2) at 3:00 pm.
